Ugh. Tuesday morning sucked.

There I was, having happily driven to work, ready to get my day going. (The new job is awesome btw, thanks for asking!) I left the car, with the remains of the large coffee (Tim Hortons: 1 milk, 1 sugar) that I drank a third of before I found the piece of folded cellphane tape floating in it. That pretty much ruined any chances of my finishing it off.

The parking garage was as it always was, cold, badly lit and made of concrete. I always use the stairs as I know I’m a fat ass and need to get into better shape and every little bit helps.

As I prepared to step down to the next step I briefly remarked that the soles of my new shoes must be a little slippery as my ground based foot was no longer there. I landed very hard on my left elbow (and back as I woudl find out later) and slid the remining way down the stairs scraping my ankle.

Now I’m not one to complain about a little cut or two, but damn, if this didn’t really hurt. I picked myself up and continued down the stairs, limping all the way…

The short result was after getting to work, and still feeling like crap, I left for my Dr.’s office who told me to go to Emergency. Happily the doctor’s office is in the middle of hospital row off of University. While the digital x-rays showed that I didn’t fracture it with this fall, I do have a bone chip floting around my elbow (ah Karate, how I miss you) and I probabbly jammed it into my elbow when I fell.

Oh and I wrenched my shoulder and sprained my neck. (As of right now, that is the bit of me that really still hurts. Unless I try to pick something up, or laugh…)

The irony is that in taking the subway to find out how much I’d hurt myself to and from my office, I must have gone up and down at least ten sets of stairs without incident. Ah such is fate.

Then again, I can’t remember the last time I fell down a flight of stairs either. And my memory goes all the way back to that time I woke up after taking a nap at the bottom of the basement stairs for some reason…
